PRG’s Research and Development department carries out the necessary concrete tests and develops tools adapted to the missions realised by its specialists.For PRG it is very important to develop a product suited to its installation technique.
Innovative safety devices
PRG has invented PRG innovatory metallic platforms allowing safe working, in particular in blast furnaces. Introduced at the level of the throat door, this platform, once deployed, allows our specialists to remove loose material on staves or copper plates inside blast furnaces or hot blast stovers. This technique permits our workers to work safely since any risk of debris falling is eliminated.
These various platforms are adapted according to the places of repair: blast furnace, ducts, cyclones…
It can be used for different applications:
- To lift people to places hard to reach
- Insulation against high temperatures (stoves)
This platform is also the subject of a permanent search for improvements.
Good concrete, proper technique
For each project, the R & D department of PRG studies and creates a made-to-measure type of concrete to install in accordance with conditions:
- Thermal shock
- Risk of abrasion and chemical attacks
- Risk of erosion
- Thermal cycling …
The concrete is then tested in our internal laboratory.
The gunning technique is also chosen with great care to avoid any problems during the project.
